Our Fortieth Anniversary Vintage Posters Auction

Our auction of Winter Vintage Posters on the 30th of November 2023 was a very special one because we are celebrating being in business for forty years, the auction included four notable collections, the first being assembled by an Art College teacher in the 1950’s and 60’s his collection was diverse and below are some of the results including Buyer’s Premium of 29%.

  • David Hockney Olympics München 1972 sold for £710 Estimate £100-200
  • Paul Nash Battle of Britain 1940 sold for £1230 Estimate £1000-1500
  • Zéró (Hans Schelger) Set of four WW2 London Transport Black out posters sold for a total of £2320 Estimate each £400-500
  • Edward McKnight Kauffer GPO Telephone sold for £590 Estimate £400-500

In the collections which featured superb and rare British Railways posters the following are worth listing.

  • Frank H Mason Clacton-on-Sea 1930 sold for £2320 Estimate £1500-2000
  • Arthur C Michael Harrogate 1935 sold for £4380 Estimate £2000-3000
  • W L Wylie HMS Victory 1928 sold for £2190 Estimate £1000-1500
  • Kenneth D Shoesmith The “Golden Arrow” Service 1934 sold for £3700 Estimate £3000-4000
  • Leslie Carr The World’s Greatest Liners 1936 sold for £5160 Estimate £5000-6000
  • Tom Purvis The Broads 1928 sold for £5160 Estimate £6000-8000
  • Jean Dupas Go Out By General Bus 1933 sold for £2450 Estimate £2000-3000
